In the perfect mushroom weather of the Virunga Mountains in Northern Rwanda, thousands of farmers expertly and tenderly grow oyster mushrooms, supported by Kigali Farms. We have also set up a mushroom growing plant in Musanze where we grow white button, cremini and Portobello mushrooms under the strictest quality standards.

Our product range includes oyster mushroom substrates, fresh and canned mushrooms as well as mushroom derived products. Mushrooms contribute to the recommended daily intake of several vitamins and minerals.

White button mushrooms
Agaricus bisporus
This is the most common variety of mushroom. The culinary choice is endless - from salads to pizza, stir-fries and side dishes - it is the most versatile mushroom of them all. Woodsy flavour becomes stronger with cooking.
Tree oyster mushrooms
Pleurotus ostreatus
These mushrooms have a multi-layered appearance and a mild, flavourful taste. They’re available commercially and easy to grow at home. Oyster mushrooms have a delicate, mild flavour with a velvety texture.
Cremini Mushrooms
Agaricus bisporus
Cremini mushrooms have a firmer texture than white mushrooms and a more intense nuttier, meaty and flavour.
It is highly versatile and its dense flesh makes it the perfect choice to be used whole (raw or cooked) in salads, kebabs and antipasto.
Portobello Mushrooms

The Portabello mushroom is one of the most imposing mushrooms in size. It has a rounded, earthen tan flat cap with near black gills on its underside.
A very flavoursome mushroom, it is becoming a favourite among the chefs of the world. Wonderful cooked, whole or sliced, grilled, fried, in a stir-fry and perfect for throwing on the barbecue.
They have a "meaty" texture and can be substituted for other proteins. Use in soups and stews, baked pasta or rice dishes, as a beef substitute or in salads. Prepare whole by grilling or stuffing. Pair with fresh herbs, fresh cow's milk cheeses, tomato or cream-based sauces, leafy greens, garlic and onions.
Artichokes

Artichokes are a low-calorie, nutrient-rich vegetable.
Excellent source of fiber and vitamin C and a good source of magnesium.
They are natural source of antioxidants. They can be steamed, stuffed, boiled, or roasted.
